High Compatibility between the Imaging and the Robot Maneuvering
Mechanical Engineering Laboratory (MEL), Surgical Planning Laboratory (SPL), Brigham & Women's Hospital (Boston, MA) and Computer-integrated Surgical Systems and Technology Laboratory (CISST), Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, MD) have a collaboration on a R&D of a surgical assist borob/manipulator which cooperatively operate with the intgraoperative MRI (iMRI or MRT).
Though R&D of surgical assist robots are gradually increasing, operating a robot in the MR room has been quite difficult. In August 1999, we succeeded in maneuvering test of our robot system, world's first iMRI compatible robot.
