1. Development of a New Optical Element and its Application to Optical Measurement in Mechanical Engineering
Optical measurement has advantages such as that it is non-contact, high precision, parallel (image) and electromagnetic disturbance proof. We are researching and developing measurement methods by using our original optical elements. For example, we have designed and fabricated a point symmetrical scatter plate by electron beam writing (upper figure). Using this element, we are able to perform good interferometric testing of a concave mirror (D=10cm, R=80cm) as shown in the lower figure. This testing method needs no special standard surface and is unaffected by vibration and air turbulence.
